'The Heidi Hike'

As per Kristine in excerpts from an E-mail note to Heidi's sister, Dawn Monroe:
"On Sunday [June 10, 2001], I and 3 other women did 'the Heidi Hike' in Palolo Valley. A gorgeous brown-eyed dog joined us at the beginning of the trail and stayed with us the entire journey (8 hours). I felt that Heidi sent him to watch over and accompany us – I know she was a dog lover. This guy was patient and sweet and made us feel safe. The plaque looks wonderful, it is over a peaceful pond at the top of a waterfall. We sat and had lunch and I remembered Heidi. It is a really tough hike, very steep, with ropes you have to pull yourself up on, I can see why she liked it. I haven't been there since the plaque was placed; it was good to go back."
